TAOYUAN, Taiwan - Riding on the success of the Apple iPad, most major handheld manufacturers are releasing their own tablet versions.
High Tech ComputerCorporation, better known asHTC, is rumoured to be coming out with its own take on the tablet computer. Supposed to be powered by the latest Nvidia Tegra 2. the HTC Tablet will have the upcoming Google Android 3.0 Gingerbread operating system.
Preliminary specifications detail the presence of a large 1280x720 capacitivetouchscreen. Judging by the screen resolution, it can be expected to be about 10" in size. Connectivity options include Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and GPS. The GPS chip, along with Android's Google Maps will make a great turn-by-turn navigation solution.
There are also whispers of a 3G enabled solution. Google is already readying the Chrome Web Apps store to be used with future Android tablets. Internal storage on HTC's tablet will be about 32GB coupled with 2GB of ROM .
Tentative release schedule for the device is expected to be Q1, 2011
